Vision & Mission
Migrants Matter envisions a European Union that lives up to its claim to be founded on the values of respect for human dignity, freedom, equality, and respect for human rights.
The experiences of migrants are often misrepresented by opportunistic politicians and sensationalist media outlets who scapegoat migrants for social ills such as crime and unemployment. We seek to challenge these narratives and to effect change in the public discourse concerning migration by highlighting abuses and exploitations of migrants and by amplifying the voices of migrant workers.
We aim to improve the living and working conditions of migrants through awareness-raising campaigns and by lobbying our governments and EU institutions to extend international standards of protection to all migrant workers, specifically by advocating for EU member states to ratify the UN ICMW.
All people, regardless of their migration status, deserve to have their human dignity and fundamental rights respected. No human being is illegal.
Laws and policies should be fair and equitable to all, regardless of country of origin.
When developing migration law and policy, states should take account of the fact that migration is a complex phenomenon, caused by a variety of push and pull factors, which often places migrants and their families in a situation of vulnerability.
